Jeffersontown, KY – Every once in a while, you come across a business that decides to branch out and try something completely new. Papa John’s is the most recent business to take on this adventure. Late last night, John Schnatter posted on the official Papa John’s Facebook page letting his audience know that he is now selling furniture; specifically papasan chairs.
“It seems pretty random,” Schnatter told us. “But it’s not. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved two things: Pizza and lounging around in a big ol’ circular chair.” The founder and CEO of the billion-dollar business went on to tell us how much he used to love getting pizza delivered to him in college and eating it while sprawled out in his papasan chair. “I told my roommate I would one day open a successful pizza chain or papasan store. I’ve now done the first, and we’ll see about the second,” he joked.
Papa John’s teamed up with Pier1 to manufacture and sell the chairs. As of today, you can pick up the chairs at over 1,000 different Pier1 locations across the country. You can try them out in over 2,500 Papa John’s locations. By Christmas time, they are hoping to have cushions that look like pizza.
